Jan runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel-based Macs.
Compatibility

- Operating System: MacOSX 13.6 or higher
- Memory:
- 8GB → up to 3B parameter models
- 16GB → up to 7B parameter models
- 32GB → up to 13B parameter models
- Storage: 10GB+ free space

Install Jan
Section titled “Install Jan”Installation steps:
Step 1: Download Application
Section titled “Step 1: Download Application”Select version:
Get Jan from here:
- Download Jan’s Stable Version
- Official Website: https://jan.ai/download
Nightly: Latest features, less stable.
Step 2: Install Application
Section titled “Step 2: Install Application”- Open the Jan installer (
.dmg
file) - Drag Jan to Applications
- Wait a moment
- Launch Jan
Jan Data Folder
Section titled “Jan Data Folder”Default location:
# Default installation directory~/Library/Application\ Support/Jan/data

Uninstall Jan
Section titled “Uninstall Jan”Step 1: Remove Application
Section titled “Step 1: Remove Application”- Close Jan if it’s running
- Open Finder
- Go to Applications
- Find Jan
- Pick your removal method:
- Drag to Trash
- Right-click → Move to Trash
- Command-Delete
Step 2: Clean Up Data (Optional)
Section titled “Step 2: Clean Up Data (Optional)”Run this in Terminal to remove all data:
rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Jan/data
